I had the same problem earlier and I installed the display driver when I got my windows 8. God evening, I follow your suggestion but my monitor still blocking with brightness at the minimum.
Please help me. I had same problem tried reinstalling, using older version and many tricks. But the following setting change worked for me. I found a solution which worked for me. Basically run the old driver installation as the administrator and it works fine. Lenovo recognized this problem back in Nov for ALL lenovos running on Windows, but none of the solutions work on mine. I’m in the same boat as Daniel Woldorff. Right after reinstalling I downloaded windows updates and Lenovo Vantage and installed all the updates they pushed to me.
At one point I checked whether the Intel Display Driver was up to date, and it was. I kept troubleshooting and re-running the Lenovo HotKeys installer. Still a problem. I’d try a workaround of using a 3rd party remapping utility, but one SharpKeys seems to tell me the brightness keys don’t register at all in Windows, so that won’t work.
I installed a Windows Store app called “Monitorium”. It’s supposed to change the brightness of multiple connected monitors including a laptop’s own display. It happily changes the brightness of an attached external monitor. One more thing There I find settings for Brightness, Contrast, Gamma, among other things.
Now if only I could figure out a shortcut to change that. Even if I could though, it’s not the same as what Monitorium does. High brightness via Monitorium looks good, whereas high brightness via Intel looks washed out. At least what I really wanted was to dim for night use, and this workaround is decently suitable for that. What did it for me was the “Hotkey features integration drivers update for win10 64 bit” and all worked.

Everything was working fine except that I cannot adjust the screen brightness with the driver that Windows 10 has installed. I can make the brightness indicator move up and down with the laptop function keys or from Windows settings, but this has lenovo brightness driver windows 10 effect at all on the brightness.
During the install there was a fail warning that said it could not install the Display Driver. However I could not play any videos. I tried various video players and they opened and tried to play a video and suddenly auto closed. Then from brightnesa Lenovo site, I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 Drivers in compatibility mode.
Again the brightness controls would work but the videos would not play or play lenovo brightness driver windows 10 a lot of stuttering. Reinstalling the AMD driver Windows 10 chooses allows me to play videos without any problem but then the brightness controls will not work. I found the solution here: Can’t adjust brightness on Windows 10? In my case I only had to change one value highlighted in red as it was the only one available on my machine. After rebooting, the brightness controls work fine with the driver from Windows update. Videos play without any problem. Last time there was a Windows 10 update, my screen was very dim and brightness was not adjustable, but I was able to fix using Monitors or Display Adapters and updating driver.
