Adobe Reader XI – Download.How to restrict Dell Digital Delivery downloads?
Well since Dell did not distribute Adobe key cards, where would I get another serial number from? I imagine the one presented was used in the original image. However Dell digital delivery verifies by the service tag that the PC is authorized for Adobe and it should have taken care of all of this.
So what am I to do here? In the future if we do not choose this method and instead go through another retailer for Adobe Acrobat XI Standard, then we will get a CD and key card for each computer we deploy, although its much more expensive So thanks for any input. I realize this could be an Adobe problem, however this was installed via Dell Digital Delivery and Dell did not send out any keys. We legitimately paid for this. In the previous round of Optiplex ‘s when we could order Acrobat X standard, we were given a key card.
After sysprep I would run a script Adobe Deployment Services was deployed to change the serial number via the command line. But now Acrobat XI is different and I’m not sure what to do.
Dell doesn’t even give us an option for Adobe X anymore, or else I would have just used that version which worked fine. Dell would not “image” machines but rather sysprep installed them. I too am a user. I sysprep the machines. I created the unattended. Then it is much easier to get a unified experience to all deployed machines.
Not only a unified experience with the same settings and programs, but it saves a tremendous amount of time deploying the machines. Then the reason the Adobe is out of sync is the certificates in the registry are not there as you are not Dell Digital Delivery.

It handled the install and activation I guess because I did not get prompted for a serial number nor was one included in the box. Things were so much simpler when Adobe X was distributed because it came with a key card that I could just run a command to change the installed product key to the one that mached the card that came with the physical machine.
I just had to have Adobe AAMEE installed on the image because that had the command required to change the product key. We are not a huge shop so we can handle the sysprep it’s included with windows and I have the Microsoft deployment toolkit for building the sysprep answer file. If we had computers to replace then I’d look into the Dell image solution, but right now we handle it in house and we are not looking to spend a lot of extra money on imaging when we can do it ourselves.
You make it sound like I am voiding the warranty by making my own image. You have to understand something here I am not formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows and drivers from scratch here We take the first PC in a series in this case the Optiplex series and from dell we just customize the pre-installed system.
