When you log in to Xero, you enter your email address and password. Xero then prompts you to authenticate using either push notifications or a code generated by an authenticator app. If you can’t authenticate using the app, you can use a backup method. You’ll need to enter a code sent to your backup email address or answer your security questions. Download the Google Authenticator app and set it up on your new phone. Log into XERO. Go to your “account” at the top left of the home screen. Where “Two Step Authentication” is listed, click disable. Log out of Xero. Log back in. Go to Account, and click to “enable” two step authentication. A QR code will come up.

Choose an authentication method, then follow the steps on screen to authenticate yourself. Enter your new backup email address, then click Continue. Go to the inbox for your new backup email address and open the email from Xero. Enter . In line with Xero’s terms of use (Xero website), each person must have their own login. You should never share passwords with others. If you already authenticate when you log in, you might notice some changes to the steps. You might also notice the change of name from two-step authentication to multi-factor authentication.
